Ruby Elnora Jones, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. 

 

She was born on June 21, 1920, in Marietta Township, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Myrtle M. (Smith) Atkinson. She graduated from Harris Ridge Country School in 1934. 

 

Ruby was united in marriage to Percy Jones on Jan. 18, 1942, in Wauzeka. They later divorced. She worked at McGregor Loud Speaker. Then she worked as a seamstress at Royal Parlor in Boscobel, and later at Hobby Stitch in Boscobel. She worked for 3M until her retirement. Ruby enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. 

 

Ruby was survived by her daughter, Mary White of Prairie du Chien; eight grandchildren, Denise (John) Seymour, of Monona, Iowa, Melisa Nielsen, of La Crosse, Laura (Herman) Jones, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, April (Brian) Hamann, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Heather (Miles) Ward, of Prairie du Chien, Terri (Greg) Zielke, of Onalaska, Scott (Karyn) Haun, of Plymouth, and Craig (Liane) Haun, of Tomah; seventeen great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dalton and Nikayla Seymour, Alicia Nielsen, Alyvia Jones, Justin, Adam and Jarrett Hamann, Bryce Ward, Mitch and Dan Zielke and Chandler, Max, Gabe, Brooklynn, Annabella and Jake Haun; three great-great-grandchildren, Sterling Meyer, Lily Howe and Noah Seymour; one son-in-law, Jerry Haun of Cashton; one brother, Jim (Mary) Atkinson, of Prairie du Chien; one sister, Judy (Paul) Krachey, of Wauzeka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Atkinson; daughter, Rosie Haun; one sister, Ruth (Joe) Curtis; two brothers, John (Betty) and LaVerne (Virginia) Atkinson; and son-in-law, Ed White. 

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien. There will also be a one hour visitation before the funeral at the church on Friday. 

 

Funeral Service will be on Friday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. Pastor Lynn Schreck will be the officant. Burial will be in Wauzeka Cemetery following the funeral service. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with arrangements.
