Roger Nicholas Moser passed peacefully on Nov. 29, 2016, in Horton General Hospital, Banbury, England. Maureen, his beloved wife of 59 years, and sister-in-law Mary Sheen shared his final hours.

A celebration of life was held Dec. 16, in Banbury, England. Another service will be held in Guttenberg at a date yet to be determined.

Roger was born in George and Grace (Hansel) Moser's farmhouse in Osterdock, on Aug. 6, 1936. He often said some of his happiest days were spent on the Mississippi River, and Roger never lost his appreciation for the mighty river. Following his graduation from Guttenberg High School, Roger enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. While stationed in England, Roger met Maureen Sheen. They married Sept. 7, 1957, in Essex, England. Roger’s career as a jet mechanic spanned 26 years and included assignments stateside as well as England and Vietnam. He retired as a Master Sargent from the USAF. Roger and Maureen lived briefly in Guttenberg after his retirement from the military. However, Roger was not retired long and resumed his career as a mechanic working in Saudi Arabia and later for Britannia Airways in Luton, England. Roger and Maureen made their home in Banbury, England.

Roger appreciated life in the English countryside. He enjoyed gardening, harvesting fruit to make chutneys, jams and jellies, walking the dogs, collecting coins, traveling, playing poker, and messing with his computer, especially Skyping his sister Gayle.

Roger is survived by his wife, Maureen; sister, Gayle Kahle, sisters-in-law, Teresa Moser and Mary Sheen; nephews and nieces, Kurt (Joyce) Moser, Alice (Don) Smith, David (Patti) Moser, Mark (Elaine) Moser, and Polly Herbst. Extended family and friends, in both England and the United States, also cherish Roger's life and honor him for being an important influence.
