Pickup truck rolls several times, lands in creek bed
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:45 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a one-vehicle rollover crash on County Road E just west of Schmidt Road in the township of Seneca.
Jorden R. Gardner, 19, Gays Mills, was traveling east on County Road E in a 2003 Ford F250 pickup. Gardner lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. Gardner went into the westbound lane, crossed back into the eastbound lane, went into the south side shoulder, and struck the embankment which caused the vehicle to overturn several times and come to rest on the passenger side in a creek bed/drainage ditch.
Gardner was not at the scene when deputies arrived. The deputies were informed that Gardner was at a residence in Eastman Township. When deputies talked to Gardner, he stated the crash happened Friday, Nov. 18, at approximately 10:30 p.m. and he was trapped in the vehicle until approximately 6:30 a.m. before he could free himself. Gardner walked to a residence and asked to get a ride to a residence in Eastman Township.
Gardner sustained injuries from the crash but refused medical treatment. He was taken by family to the hospital for medical evaluation. The vehicle sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department on scene was Bob’s Towing. Gardner was cited for operating after suspension, unreasonable and imprudent speed, and left of center. The crash remains under investigation.
