Medical issues lead to crash
An area driver’s health issues affected his abilities behind the wheel Thanksgiving morning, leading to a crash near Lawless Road in rural Prairie du Chien.
On Thursday, Nov. 24, at about 6:30 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received reports of an out-of-control motorist traveling on Highway 18 in the Mount Hope area.
It was later determined that Christopher Foley, 36, of Lancaster, was the motorist driving a 2007 Pontiac G5.
The sheriff’s office received several 911 calls of the vehicle traveling at excessive speeds, traveling in the wrong lane, turning around in the middle of the road, almost hitting vehicles head on, and traveling in both shoulders of the roadway.
Eventually, while traveling westbound on the highway, Foley’s vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lane, left the roadway on the south side, hit a driveway culvert, went air borne and came to rest in the south ditch. Foley was not injured in the crash but was transported by West Grant EMS for his medical issues. Foley will be cited for operating left of center and a driver condition report will be filed with the state.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fennimore Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and West Grant EMS. The vehicle was removed by Collision Specialists of Fennimore.
