Karen Rae Ann (Kammerer) “Ruby” Walch, 70, of Elkader, Iowa, entered into heaven peacefully in her home early Sunday morning November 13, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Karen, or lovingly known to her friends and family as “Ruby” was the first born child to Raymond and Bernadine (Ashelin) Kammerer of Winona, MN. She was born October 9, 1946, in Winona.

Karen graduated from Cotter High School in 1964. Following high school she went to cosmetology school, and later joined the Navy where she spent three years serving our country. Once discharged from the Navy, she decided to move to Tennessee, where she met the love of her life, Jeffrey W. Walch, and they were married, on May 29, 1971. Through this union Karen and Jeff brought two beautiful daughters into this world.

Throughout the years, Karen, had various jobs and hobbies which included gardening, taking care of her home, baking sweet treats, spending time with her grandkids, and running a hamburger stand (The 2-Mit) with Jeff for 36 years. Karen was a very compassionate and loving person that always put other’s needs before her own. While she had many interests, Karen lived her life through her seven grandkids and two great-grandkids; they were her pride and joy.
