funds to be determined at November 2 meeting

Crawford County Emergency Management Director Jim Hackett said that the final damage assessment for public infrastructure and the amount of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding that the county will receive for damages caused by the storm of Sept. 21 and Sept. 22 will be determined at a meeting on Nov. 2.
The meeting will involve briefings with FEMA officials and officials from Crawford County and the townships and villages. The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Emergency Management meeting room in the basement of the Sheriff’s Office.
The presentations are expected to last for approximately 45 minutes. The remaining time will allocated for applicants to ask questions about projects, eligibility, procurement/contracting and programs.
All applicants will have the opportunity to submit an application at the briefing.
Team 1 will be Robyn Wiseman (public assistance/mitigation) and Anita Cornell (public assistance). Team 2 will be Robby Stoikes and Eric Learn (public assistance) and Roxanne Gray (mitigation).
FEMA will pay for 75 percent of the damages to roads, bridges, trails, recreational property and other public facilities that were damaged. The state will pay for 12.5 percent and local municipalities will pay for the other 12.5 percent.
FEMA will also pay 75 percent of approved costs for hazard mitigation projects undertaken by state and local governments to prevent or reduce long-term risk to life and property from future natural or technological disasters.
