Lula Belle R. Dalton, 81, of Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Seneca, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital after a brief illness. 

She was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Gays Mills, the daughter of James and Dorothy (Callaway) Coleman. She married Howard Dalton on Sept. 4, 1954, in Madison. Together they farmed for many years in the Seneca area. Lula Belle worked as a housekeeper and later as a cook for the Boscobel Care Center in Boscobel. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard, of Prairie du Chien; her children, William Dalton, of Gays Mills, Ralph (Lori) Dalton, of Seneca, Randy (Heidi) Dalton, of Prairie du Chien, Janice Fradette of Genoa, and Dan (Cassidy) Dalton, of Baraboo; her sister Mary Lou Sutherland, of Winslow, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law Mary Dalton; her brothers, Carl, Ted and Don Coleman; and her sisters Juanita Dobbs and Melinda Coleman.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Gays Mills Cemetery in Gays Mills, with Rev. Lynn Schreck officiating. Family will also be gathering at the cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon for a brief memorial service, with a luncheon to follow. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
