Because October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Catholic Charities has placed purple ribbons on the corn stalk bundles lining Blackhawk Avenue in Prairie du Chien. This is to remind citizens that domestic violence is a real problem and can include physical, verbal, emotional, sexual and economic abuse of a loved one. Catholic Charities offers advocacy, support, workshops and a 24-hour crisis line at 888-200-8426.
