Celebration of homecoming activities is taking place at River Ridge High School next week, Sept. 19 to the 23. The theme is “Board Games” and the football game will be against Shullsburg on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Wednesday evening will kick off community participation with a night of family fun and entertainment at the high school. A color run will start the night, from 6 to 7 p.m., on the Fitness Trail, near the softball field at River Ridge High School. A soup and sandwich meal, provided by a Safe and Stable Family Grant, will be available at the same time.

Also Wednesday evening will be the skit, lip sync, and coronation program in the high school gym, beginning with naming of royalty at 7:30 p.m. A 50/50 raffle will take place later.

Homecoming court members include: freshmen representatives, Kyra Drew, daughter of Brad and Cara Drew, escorted by Jake Cathman, son of Jason and Jennifer Cathman; sophomore representatives, Jordyn Vogt, daughter of Roger and Jeanie Vogt, escorted by Trevor Nichols, son of Scott and Charlene Nichols; junior representatives Katelyn Quick, daughter of Roy and Mickey Quick, escorted by Aidan Morrow, son of Joe and Jody Morrow.

The escort for the senior representative will be Amiel Guerrero, son of Arleen and Tim Dissmore. The homecoming king will be Ben Ertz, son of Randy and Brenda Ertz. Ladies representing the senior class are Lexi Harper, daughter of Greg and Tara Harper, and Rebecca Breuer, daughter of Leo and Sara Breuer. The young lady receiving the most votes in a school election held Monday will be the queen. The result will be kept secret until coronation.

On Thursday evening, the parade will take place in Bloomington, beginning at the Village Park on Congress Street and heading north. Anyone interested in watching the parade should plan to do so on Congress Street as it will not continue onto Mill Street. Businesses and organizations interested in putting an entry in the parade should be at the park at 5:30 p.m. After the parade, there will be powder puff football games and fireworks at the football field in Bloomington. River Ridge Active Parents is sponsoring the firework show. NHS will hold concessions that evening as well.

Friday will be Purple Day. Students and staff are asked to wear purple to show their homecoming spirit and school pride. The high school will  partake in activities for the afternoon and, then, the homecoming football game will start at 7 p.m. The sports boosters will hold concessions at the football game. The presentation of the Timberwolves Spirit Award plaque to the class that accumulates the most points—from banner, lip sync, skit, float building, and purple day competitions—will occur during halftime of the game. Members of the homecoming court will be recognized and the dance team will perform.

The River Ridge senior class will conclude the homecoming festivities by hosting a homecoming dance on Saturday evening. The dance will be held in River Ridge High School gym from 8 to 11:30 p.m.
