Jacob Richard Hagen, 23, passed away on Aug. 18, 2016, at home after losing a hard fought battle with addiction.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Clifton Park, N.Y.

Jake was born June 8, 1993, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Dan and Kim Hagen, moving to Ballston Lake, N.Y., when he was three. Jake was a 2011 graduate of Shenendehowa High School where he loved playing football, from junior plainsmen through varsity. He was known to be able to knock down anyone despite being the skinniest on the team. Jake also loved to play basketball for a local travel team and played pick up ball whenever he could. This past year he enjoyed playing in the Empire State Kickball League. Jake was a member of Boy Scout Pack 8 and Troop 42 where he developed a love of the outdoors, and, with his dad, Jake enjoyed hiking, fishing and canoeing at both Scouts and the Indian Guides. Jake's mom was his biggest supporter in everything he did. Jake's sisters, Kelsey and Molly, treasure their time with him walking the family dog and spending time together. Jake will be remembered by everyone who knew him for his wicked sense of humor and a daring personality. He was blessed with wonderful friends. Jake worked for several years at Market 32 Price Chopper in Clifton Park and most recently at Logistics One in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Jake is survived by his parents, Dan and Kim Hagen; his loving sisters, Kelsey and Molly, who miss him very much; and his constant canine companion, Chloe; his grandparents, Duane and Marie Hagen of Guttenberg, and Dick and Judy Fazio of Sun City West, Ariz. Jake was blessed with several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Adirondack Mountain Club, ADK.org, 814 Goggins Road, Lake George, NY 12845.
