Norma A. Welsch, 83, of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 20, at Crossing Rivers Healthcare in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born April 7, 1933 in Patch Grove, the daughter of Harold and Bessie (Wilkinson) Govier. She married Floyd Welsch on Nov. 22, 1952 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Norma worked at 3M Company in Prairie du Chien as a transportation clerk for 20 years. She was a very active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she served on many different committees and assisted with many church activities. Summers were full with the family’s annual vacations “up north,” celebrating birthdays and gathering with friends. Norma was an avid cook and baker and always had some fresh pie or cookies for the grandkids. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Floyd Welsch of Prairie du Chien; her children, Rick (Lynette) and David (friend Susie) both of Madison, Scott and Jim (Barb) both of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Amy, Scottie, Spencer (fiancé Katie Wipfli), Alexandra, Daniel, Becky and Katy; great grandchildren, Aidan and Devon; niece Beth (Bruce) Fortner; nephews, Tom (Roxanne) and Bill Tubbs. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Bob Tubbs.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Kyle Svennungsen officiating, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
