Dennis M. Breuer, 71, of Wabasha died Wednesday, Aug. 3, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a three year battle with cancer. 

He was born Dec. 8, 1944 in Prairie du Chien, the son of Christopher and Patricia (Nies) Breuer. He was a graduate of West Grant High School in Patch Grove. He married Kay Blackbourn Oct. 16, 1965 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Dennis was a master cheese maker working for several creameries in Wisconsin. He and his family moved to Nelson, Wis. in 1969 where he worked for Francis Greenheck at the Nelson Cheese Factory. The family moved to Wabasha one year later. He and Kay then co-owned and co-operated the Alley Oop bowling center in Wabasha. Dennis later worked for Plainview Milk Products and then Ramsen Dairy and Fairway Dairy in Lakeville, Minn. He retired in January, 2014 due to health issues.

Dennis was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and stockholder. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Breuer, Wabasha; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Rob Sill, Wabasha; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Paula Breuer, Kellogg, Minn., Jason Breuer, Rochester, Minn., Jeremy and Kim Breuer, Kellogg, Minn.; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle and Christopher Sill, Elijah, Isaac and Jacob Breuer, Chandler and Bailey Breuer, and Bryce and Peyton Breuer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Joan Breuer, Patch Grove, Ted Breuer, Woodman, Lori Budworth, Dodgeville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Pete Linden, East Dubuque, Ill., Diane Breuer, Dubuque, Iowa, Bill Scott, Sauk Prairie; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by grandson, Terrell Breuer; granddaughter, Amelia Breuer; parents, Christopher and Patricia Breuer; brother, Terry Breuer and sister, Nancy Scott.

A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, Aug. 8, at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Conception, rural Kellogg with the Reverend Monsignor Robert Meyer officiating. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Sunday from 4-8pm and at the church on Monday one hour before the Mass. Casket bearers will be grandsons Kyle, Christopher, Elijah, Isaac, Chandler and Bryce. Honorary bearers will be granddaughters, Jessica, Bailey and Peyton and Dennis’ good friends Frank O’Flaherty, Bob Vaplon and Eugene Marking. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements.
