Michael Richard Duwe, 51, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at his home of a massive heart attack.

Visitation was Sunday, July 31, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Michael was born on Aug. 26, 1964, in Landstuhl, Germany to Richard and Rosemarie (Heins) Duwe Jr. 

Michael was baptized on May 23, 1965, at St. John's Church in Guttenberg by Rev. E.W. Kraemer. He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Church in Garnavillo by Rev. L. C. Urlaub on Palm Sunday, March 30, 1980. Michael graduated from Garnavillo High School with the class of 1983. 

Michael was an active church member and served on the council. His joy was serving God, farming with his dad and trucking live stock. He enjoyed good music and the Chicago Cubs. He loved his family and they loved him. 

Survivors include Michael’s parents; siblings, Diana (Brennan) Cody, David (Beth) Duwe and Daniel (Crystal) Duwe; nephews, Isaiah Duwe, Brett Cody, Brandon Duwe; nieces, Brianna Cody and Abigayle Duwe; seven aunts and four uncles and many others relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Roma (Bittner) Heins; paternal grandparents, Richard and Florence (Handke) Duwe Sr; four aunts and six uncles. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to 107 N Roosevelt St., Garnavillo, IA 52049 in Michael's honor.
