Party Mardi Gras style in support of library expansion
By Correne Martin
The Prairie du Chien Memorial Library is hosting a Mardi Gras party on Sunday, July 24, from 1 to 4 p.m., on the street between the library and city hall. This event is planned as an enjoyable promotion to highlight the library expansion fundraising efforts.
The fun scheduled for the afternoon includes music by local favorites Don and Shirley Harwood and Mike McCoy, as well as River City Ruckus. Also, food will be served, bean bag games will take place, John Mundt will do caricature drawings and the Prairie du Chien High School Hawkettes are expected to dance on the street. A tent will be set up in the city parking lot. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Sponsors of the Mardi Gras party, in part, are Kwik Trip and True Value.
The party will also be a chance for interested supporters of the library expansion project to sign up for the 100 Families initiative, through which 100 donors are sought to contribute $1,000 over a five-year period, with the potential funds equaling $100,000. Monthly, quarterly or annual tax-deductible payments are available as part of this program. Donors in the 100 Families initiative can have their names listed in the children, teen or adult reading areas of the new library.
