Anna Troester is a new face among the tourism team in Prairie du Chien. As the new tourism coordinator, she’s enthusiastic about working with the public as well as promoting and marketing the community in an effort to bring people to Prairie du Chien.

Born and raised in northeast Iowa on a dairy farm, Troester currently lives in rural Garnavillo along the Great River Road. She is a 2007 graduate of Central Community School, of Elkader, and a 2011 graduate of UW-Platteville.

After college, Troester farmed with her parents before moving to Maryland for a year. There, she was employed as the shipment coordinator for a bovine embryo export company. In 2012, she returned to the region and lived in Wisconsin while serving as the assistant manager for the Red and White Dairy Cattle Association, of Madison, for three and a half years. She traveled frequently with that job, promoting the association, in places like Australia, Germany and Canada.

“I also had experience with publishing and editing the The Red Bloodlines magazine and became familiar with advertising there,” she said.

Troester took over her new position on June 20. She replaced longtime employee Patti Wacker, who left to pursue new opportunities.

Troester is anxious to get to know local stakeholders and community members. “I think I’m very easy to get along with and I enjoy visiting with people, so I encourage them to come visit me,” she said. “I’m very hard-working and detail-oriented. I’ve been trying to be very organized as I get a handle on things.”

Growing up in the area, Troester said Prairie du Chien was often the city her family came to for shopping and leisure activities. Now, as the face of tourism here, she is happy to roll up her sleeves and get to work. She will be working with local businesses, dealing with advertising and other efforts to bring tourists to Prairie du Chien, planning and coordinating events, manning the Facebook page and tourism website details, putting together the Prairie du Chien tourism guide and much more.

“If anyone has questions or just wants to meet me, don’t hesitate to contact me. I want to get to know as many people as I can,” she stated.

To reach her, visitors can find her office at the tourism information center/chamber of commerce office in Prairie du Chien, or call 326-8555 or email pdccoc@mhtc.net.

When she’s not found promoting Prairie du Chien tourism, Troester can be found farming part-time with her parents, Mark and Rondee Troester, brother Amos and boyfriend David Wilson.
