Frieda Charlene Harris, 79, of Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, July 3, at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse. 

Frieda Charlene Armbrust was born to Charles and Uenice (Maah) Armbrust on Sept. 27, 1936. She attended high school in Galena, Ill. Frieda was united in marriage with Monroe Lewis Harris on Jan. 18, 1953 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa, they later divorced.

Frieda worked as a CNA for forty years at the Great River Care Center and Prairie Maison, she retired in September 2009. She was a homemaker, enjoyed flower gardening, baking, sewing, arts and crafts and puzzles. Frieda loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien.

Frieda is survived by her seven children, Brian (Barb Connor) Harris of Tiffin, Iowa, Randy (Kathleen) Harris of Las Vegas, Nev., Cheryl (Rick) Bartles of Prairie du Chien, Carolyn Larkin of Prairie du Chien, Lewis (Merry) Harris of Prairie du Chien, Carla (Leland) Arneson of Prairie du Chien, and Christine (Jeff) Kleinow of Luana, Iowa; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Welch of Low Moor, Iowa.

Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Uenice Armbrust; son, Mark in 1965; brother, Clarence Wiethers; and granddaughter, Trish Harris.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, at Bible Baptist Church, Prairie du Chien, with a two hour visitation before services at the church on Friday. Pastor Andy Doll will be the Officiant. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with arrangements.
