A day filled with family-friendly fun will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Prairie du Chien Aquatic Park and Fort Fun.

This event will feature a variety of Olympic-themed games and activities for families, starting with an olympic athlete pledge. Then, at 9:30 a.m., the 46th annual 5K Run/Walk will commence. To insure a t-shirt and lunch for the event, pre-registration must be completed by noon on Friday, July 8. But, if you don’t want a t-shirt, registration will be open up until the morning of the event.

At 10 a.m., a teen/adult, two player sand volleyball tournament, sponsored by Bible Baptist Church, will take place. For more information about this tournament, please call (608) 412-3848.

A Skateboard Fun Competition will begin at 10:30 a.m., with all ages and levels of skill are welcome to participate. This event will be sponsored by the Children’s Advisory Board.

Water aerobics will begin at 11 a.m., lap swim to follow at noon. After lap swim, the pool will open to the eventgoers for “olympic” swimming and games from 1 to 5 p.m. Pool passes will not be accepted for admittance to the pool on this day.

Other activities taking place will be: a decathlon, backyard bass casting, basketball skills contest, yolf, hockey, giant backyard scramble, volleyball, soccer, javelin throw, cannonball competition, water luge races and lunch.

Music will be provided by Twisted Vision. The event is sponsored by the Prairie du Chien Parks and Recreation Department, Crossing Rivers Health and Bible Baptist Church. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Prairie du Chien Skateboard Park.

“It’s a new event combining lots of smaller events. We’re hoping to draw more people with everything we’ve got going on. It’s also a great preview to the big Summer Olympic Games,” said Parks and Recreation Director, Mike Ulrich.

For more information on this event, please contact Ulrich, at (608) 326-7207. Participants can register at the Prairie du Chien City Hall, the Prairie du Chien Aquatic Park and online at pdcrecdesk.com/recdeskportal.
