$12k reeled in for breast cancer programs
Hooking for Hope is an annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser associated with the Sawmill Saloon in Prairie du Chien. A raffle, live auction and music follow a fun and competitive fishing tournament. All money raised is given locally to support those battling breast cancer. This year, on June 4—the 13th year of the event—178 women participated in the tournament and $12,000 was raised. Of that amount, $7,500 will be donated to Gundersen Health’s Steppin’ Out in Pink, $2,500 to Gundersen Health’s Paula’s Purse program and $2,000 to the Crossing Rivers Health mammography department. Through the generosity of the Tavern League of Wisconsin, Hooking for Hope has also applied to receive matching funds for this event.
