Patricia E. Wachuta, 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, April 4, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.

She was born March 6, 1923 in Eastman, the daughter of John and Margaret (Wall) Phillip. She married Clifford Wachuta on June 6, 1949 at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien. She was a graduate of the La Crosse Teacher’s College and later taught in rural schools near Eastman for 7 years. She and Clifford farmed in rural Prairie du Chien. Her husband preceded her in death on April 24, 1979. Patricia was active in 4H, the Homemaker’s Association, the Head Start Program, Wisconsin First Book, St. Gabriel’s Parish and the Lower Wisconsin River Genealogy Society.

She is survived by her sons, George (Anita) of Brooklyn, Wis., Phil (Holly) of Stetsonville, Mark and Steve (Jenny) both of Prairie du Chien, Tom (Helen) of Sparta; her daughters, Teri (Richard Frost) Wachuta of La Crosse, Rita (Mike) Wachuta-Breckel of Westby, Valerie (Jerry Faulkner) Wachuta of Platteville, and Lisa McGrath of Brooklyn; a sister Jussie Koresh of Prairie du Chien; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother Jackie Phillip; her sisters, Laurayne Prew, Sr., Augusta Phillip and Mildred Prew along with a son-in-law Ed McGrath.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Friday, April 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
