Eldon (Eldy) A. Thomas passed away Jan. 19, surrounded by his family in St. Cloud, Minn.

From 1960 to 1964 Eldy and his wife, Carole lived in Prairie du Chien, where he was employed as a tool and die maker at Jonway Tool & Die. Jonway came to Prairie du Chien through Charles Gillette to provide service for the National Decorated Metal plant. Eldy and Carole developed many friends while in Prairie du Chien. After the closing of the Decorated Metal plant, they returned to Winona to work for John Roskop’s die shop in Winona. One of Eldy’s fellow workers, Jerry Fernette followed Eldy to Roskop’s, which continued a life-long friendship. In 1972, Eldy and Jerry opened their own shop, Jetco, Inc. Ten months later Jerry died and Eldy continued the shop until he retired in 1989. In 2014, Carole and Eldy moved to Rice, Minn. to be close their children.

Eldy was proceeded in death by his parents Frank and Olga (Marunda) Thomas; brothers, Gerald and Frank; sister, Louise Black; and great-grandson, Koha Slayte Pederson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carole; daughters, Bonnie (George) Pederson of Chippewa Falls, and Becky (Virgil) Dragert of Swanville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother, James (Jan) of Wauwatosa; sisters, Ella Stoker of La Crosse, and Mary (Bill) Cornell of Pray, Wis.; many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at First Congregational Church, side entrance, 161 West Broadway, Winona, Minn.
