Man charged: drug possession, intent to distribute

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, its K-9 Breck and the Prairie du Chien Police Department collaborated on an apprehension involving narcotics in Prairie du Chien Township on Jan. 16.

At about 4:30 a.m., K-9 Breck detected a controlled substance on the exterior of several parked vehicles in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store. He indicated to the presence of one or more controlled substances on a Buick LeSabre. The operator, Christopher Fernette, 38, of Prairie du Chien, was informed and a search of the vehicle based off the indication from the K-9 followed.

Deputies located methamphetamine individually packaged for sale, marijuana, methamphetamine paraphernalia smoking devices, needles used to ingest methamphetamine, a digital scale and a schedule II narcotic on Fernette’s person and vehicle.

Fernette was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail with charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia and possession of a schedule II narcotic, all of which are felonies.
