John Wagner, 74, of Elkader, passed away January 10, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque after an extended illness.

John was born June 20, 1941 and raised on a farm outside of Elkader where he enjoyed his many pets, raising cattle and crops. John also had a passion for working on machinery, especially older John Deere two-cylinder tractors. Until very recently, John still enjoyed visiting the farm where he was born and raised on his afternoon outings from the Elkader Care Center.

John is survived by his good friends and caregivers David Kobliska and Jim Russell. John also will be missed and fondly remembered by friends, relatives and the staff at Scenic Acres and the Elkader Care Center.

John will be laid to rest in a private service at East Side Cemetery alongside his mother, father and sister.

Proceeding him in death are his parents, Louis and Wilma Wagner, and a sister,  Anna Marie.
