Ronald D. Standorf, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa died Thursday, Jan. 7, at home surrounded by those he loved.

Ron was born on April 14, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa, son of Harvey and Carlotta (Moen) Standorf. He attended MarMac Schools and served in the National Guard for 6 years. Ron was united in marriage to Lynda “Lyn” Fritsche on July 1, 1961 at St. Gabriel Church in Prairie du Chien. He was employed by Dubuque Packing Company, FDL Foods and Farmland for 41 years. After retiring, Ron enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling with his wife, gardening and visiting with family and neighbors on his front porch. Much of his time was spent enjoying their summer home in Bridgeport, on the Wisconsin River. He was an avid sport’s fan of the Packers, Hawkeyes and Cubs.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynda (Lyn) Standorf of Dubuque; sons Jeff (Tamara) Standorf and Randy (Lorrie) Standorf of Dubuque; daughter Jodi Standorf of Dubuque; two grandchildren Lindsey Standorf and Nick Standorf; two step-grandchildren Justin Halfhill and Paige Halfhill; brother Alan (Sandy) Standorf of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; sister Sandra (Frank)Schlitter of McGregor.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Shirley (Don) Johanningmeier of McGregor; brother and sister-in-law Harlan (Karen) Standorf of Eldora, Iowa; nephew Greg Standorf of Eldora.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald Standorf Memorial Fund or Hospice of Dubuque.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hartmann and staff, Dr. Hermann and staff, the staff of Finley Hospital, Finley Home Care and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their wonderful care. 

Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a memorial service will be at 11:30. Entombment to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque.
