Lorraine M. Hanson was born in Daggett, Mich. to Samuel and Ida (Anderson) Johnson on March 29, 1928. After graduation from high school she attended Marinette County Normal where she earned a 2 year certificate in teaching. The first school she taught in was in Crivitz, where she met her future husband, Leo Hanson. Lorraine and Leo wed on Dec. 22, 1949. Lorraine’s greatest joy was when she became a mother for the first time in 1951. She was blessed to have 6 children. Lorraine returned to college to earn her Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She taught in Prairie du Chien public school for 23 years. She took joy in raising her children, reading, teaching, bird watching, traveling and the company of her dogs. Her church, Mt. Zion United Methodist was very important to her where she served God faithfully.

She is survived by six children, David (Jane) Hanson of Sun City Center, Fla., Sharon (David) Benzing of Gays Mills, Karen (Randy) Baszynski of Prairie du Chien, Lois (John) Schwert of Gays Mills, Deana (Benton) Shipley of Houma, La., Dale (Linda) Hanson of Prairie du Chien; seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren with one on the way; two siblings, Sam (Linda) Thomas and Phyllis (Lee) Rosander. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leo Hanson, and her sisters Margaret, Gladys and Betty.

May God hold her in His arms now and for ever. We will meet again some day.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor Stan Pegram officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
