Edward “Ed” Walech, 94, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Dubuque, passed away Dec. 12.

He was born Dec. 3, 1921, to Nick Walech and Genevieve (Rupp) Walech in Dubuque. Ed was a Veteran of World War II. He worked for H&W Motor Express in Dubuque for over 34 years, retiring at the end of 1981. He served for 43 years on General Drivers Credit Union and 30 years on teamster union board.

He had just celebrated his birthday with his morning-coffee-friends, many of whom had been enjoying meeting with him for the almost daily event for over 20 years. And he was looking forward to preparing a hasenpfeffer feast for a friend who had provided him with the squirrels.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years on April 24, 2013; a sister, Grace; two brothers John and David.

He is survived by a sister, Suzanne Miller, of Lenoir, N.C., and nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Gardens, Dubuque, next to his beloved Delores. He spoke often of the many travels they experience together in life. Now they travel together for eternity.
