Katie Beth Herman, 84, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at her home in Guttenberg.

Visitation was Monday, Nov. 16, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg

Services were private.

Katie was born on June 18, 1931, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Frank and Verna (Hyde) Tomkins.

Katie received her education from Colesburg School system where she graduated with the class of 1949. She worked for John Deere in Dubuque, and spent much of life working as a waitress in various restaurants. Waitressing gave Katie Beth the opportunity to visit with so many people which she cherished and you could always count her in for a game of cards. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Steve (Jan) Patzner and Marcella Schwartz; three grandchildren, Eric (Kassie) Patzner, Rachel (Chuck) Brekke, Ben (Kim) Patzner; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Josie and Luke Thomas, Cadence, Nova, Stormy and Autumn Patzner; two sisters, Letha Moser and Lola Meyer and many other relatives and friends.

Katie Beth was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, LaVern Patzner and Elmer Herman; and two brothers, Merle and Kenneth Tomkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to benefit either the Bethel Church or Bethel Cemetery.
