Lorraine Lorretta Shulka, 81, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, surrounded by her family at Agrace Hospice in Madsion. 

She was born Nov. 7, 1933 in Boscobel, the daughter of Eldon and Nellie (Ward) Wayne. She married Clarence Shulka on July 31, 1965 in Caledonia, Minn. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1994. Loretta worked in nursing for the old Beaumont Hospital and later for Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien spanning 40 years. She belonged to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Prairie du Chien where she taught Sunday school. 

She is survived by her children, Dan (Nancy) Shulka of Blanchardville, Roger (Lois) Puckett of Prairie du Chien, Joanne (Randy) Legler of Belleville, and Janice (Rick) Polodna of Eastman; her brother Larry (Maxine) Wayne of Woodman; her sister Marlene (Stan) Wetter of Boscobel; eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; her daughters Debbie Kirschbaum and Diane Puckett; brothers, Alfred, Bernard and Earl Wayne; sisters, Geneva Thingvold, Elmyra Smith, Elizabeth Glassmaker, Esther Zimpel, Margaret Seeley and Mabel Dodge; a grandson David Kirschbaum; along with two great grandchildren, Doran Kirschbaum III and Lilly Ann Pitzer.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Scott Jacobs officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
