Chester L. Barr, 76, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Sept. 18, at the Atrium care Center in Lancaster. 

He was born Nov. 29, 1938 in Beetown, the son of Elsworth and Elsie Barr. He married Delores Kramer on Sept. 15, 1962 and they later divorced. Chester grew up on the family farm, working later at Northern Engraving. He worked as a delivery and salesman for Prairie Beer and later became the owner and operator of the Pine Tree Inn in Bridgeport. Chester was active in the tavern league, Wisconsin Badger Camp and the St. Jude Foundation. He served on the Bridgeport Town Board, and loved the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, playing pool, John Deere tractors and enjoyed hunting. 

He is survived by his partner Pat Prochaska of Prairie du Chien; his children Dixie Barr-Martinez of Waukon, Iowa, Chester (C.B.) Jr. of Dodgeville, and Angela (David) Frahm of Clarence, Iowa; his stepchildren, Christine, Melissa, Jesse, Lori and Pam; his brothers, Stanley of New Richmond, Larry (Sharon) of Mt. Hope, Robert (Barb) of Bloomington; his sister Doris (John) Williams of Prairie du Chien; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don and Burnell; along with his sisters, Charlotte, Jean, Dorothy and Maxine.

A memorial service will be Friday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien with Pastor Andy Doll officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
