Brewers invited to enter annual GermanFest Tasting Sept. 26
The Saturday Sep. 26 GermanFest celebration in Guttenberg will continue to feature a homebrew tasting. Festival goers who enjoy stout, pale ale, pilsner, and wheat beer can sip and compare local suds.
The tasting will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm in the main festival tent located in the 600 south block of River Park Drive. Festival-goers are asked to make a free will donation for the people's choice ballot.
Ballots will be collected and the winner announced at 2:30 pm in the main tent.
Homebrewers are invited to enter the contest for free and can enter as many brews as they want. The entry consists of six bottles of beer with labels.
A $50 cash prize will be given to the people's choice winner and $25 for second place.
Amateur beermakers are encouraged to register by Monday, Sept. 21. Download an entry form at www.guttenbergiowa.net or request one by email and return it to Dr. Andy Smith at doctor.andrew.smith@gmail.com or by mail to Dr. Andy Smith, 127 Acre St., Guttenberg, IA 52052.
