Geraldean “Gerry” Kuehl McNeal, 87, of Elkader, died with family by her side, Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. She was born December 4, 1927, in Clayton, to LeRoy and Tillie (Koehn) Harnack. Gerry graduated from Elkader High School with the Class of 1946, and then attended Elkader Junior College for two years.

Gerry was united in marriage to Merlin Arthur Kuehl on November 22, 1947. One son was born to this union. Merlin died in November 1984. She worked as office manager for Walch Ford, Dittmer Dodge and McNeal Auto, all in Elkader. On February 13, 1988, Gerry was united in marriage to Earl “Ernie” Ernest McNeal at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. 

She enjoyed all types of sports, and especially loved watching Dave play basketball. Family was special to her; working in her flower garden, cooking and watching the animals gave her much pleasure.

Survivors include her husband, Ernie McNeal of Elkader; her son, David (Jean) Kuehl of Strawberry Point; three stepchildren, Cinda (Jackson) Crosley of Pflugerville, TX, Dennis McNeal of Decorah and Daniel (Kate) McNeal of Cedar Rapids; one stepdaughter-in-law, Verna McNeal White of Urbandale; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Gene Kuehl and Rev. Lyle Kuehl.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin Kuehl; one stepson, Eric McNeal; stepdaughter-in-law, Kathy McNeal; three siblings, Delores Berger, Bernadine Alberts and Kenneth Harnack.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader Burial was at 1:30 p.m. at Hansel Cemetery, rural Garber. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader.
