 Kenneth Edward Otteson, 84, of Prairie du Chien, died on July 9, at Sannes Skogdalen Heim in Soldiers Grove. 

Kenneth was born to Ernst S. and Mary Retha (Seipp) Otteson on Sept. 2, 1930 in Prairie du Chien. He was baptized and was confirmed at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Kenneth graduated from Campion High School, Prairie du Chien in 1948. He served in the U. S Army Reserves and National Guard, joining in July 1951.

Kenneth was united in marriage with Greta A. Anderson on Sept. 2, 1950 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Seven children were born to this union. He was a lifelong resident of Prairie du Chien, a member of Knights of Columbus and St. John Catholic Church. He was the owner and operator of a locker plant, a chef and a salesman for Thompson Feeds.

Kenneth enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and traveling. He especially loved spending time with family.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Greta Otteson of Prairie du Chien; his children, Kristine (Del) Maag of Prairie du Chien, Mark (Tammy) Otteson of Prairie du Chien, Judith (Dick) Dowd of Granberry, Texas, Steve (Ginger) Otteson of Amherst, Ohio, Ellie (Bob) Sirota of Fox Lake, Wis. Scott (Cheri) Otteson of Hudson, Wis. and Eric (Anita) Otteson of Prescott, Wis.; twenty three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Retha Otteson; brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Vi Otteson; and a nephew, David Otteson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Parish or the American Diabetes Association.  

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before the Mass at the church on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial with be held on Monday, July 20, at St. John Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, with Rev. Victor Feltes as the celebrant. Burial will be held at a later date.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with arrangements.
