Mary Ann Bockenstedt, 87, of Osterdock, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 2, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Mary was born one of three daughters to Ernest and Ida F. (Brase) Wolter on April 12, 1928, in rural Guttenberg. Mary was baptized on June 10, 1928, at St. John’s Church in Guttenberg and later confirmed there as well. She attended rural Osterdock School and later graduated from Guttenberg High School. Mary spent nine and a half years teaching in country schools. She married Lester C. Moser in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1969. She later was united in marriage with Henry R. Bockenstedt on Sept. 12, 1974. Mary worked for Utah Electronics for 20 years and then she worked for Trademark Homes for eight years until her retirement. Mary was a member of the Guttenberg Eagles Club and enjoyed playing cards, attending dances, spending time in her garden and taking care of all her flowers. As a resident of Osterdock, Mary enjoyed going to the Osterdock Store for coffee and conversation with her friends and family. She enjoyed reminiscing about the early years teaching and shared many stories of the children she taught and the wonderful adults she watched them become. Mary was labeled as one of the greatest aunts ever. She may not have expressed her love for her family in an obvious manner but her nieces and nephews always knew that they were compassionately loved by their aunt Mary.

Mary is survived by her step-children, Sandy (John) Mathias, Randy (Becky) Bockenstedt, Mark Bockenstedt, Brenda (Ron) Tart and Rusty Bockenstedt; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sharon (Elmer) Radabaugh, Sandy (Larry) Fox; one nephew, Darrel (Shirleen) Fredlake; numerous nieces and nephews from her previous marriages and also many great nieces; nephews; family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one step-son, David Bockenstedt; two sisters, Janetta Fredlake, Ivanelle Harbaugh and one nephew, Dennis Fredlake.

In lieu of flowers and all types of sympathy, memorials are preferred and you may send them to either St. Jude Hospice, Guttenberg Eagles Club or the River Living Center in Guttenberg.
