working hard

Last night the Prairie du Chien girls soccer team played against River Valley. Although the score (10-0) did not favor Prairie, the girls never quit and worked to get a couple of good drives to the net.

The team was led in shots by Courtney Pattison with 3 shots on goal. Defensively, the team was led by Tajah Eades, Sadie Tieman, and Payton Davidson. Eades and Tieman had a few great sweeps apiece where they sprinted in to stop Valley before they could get a shot on goal.

Jesse Gutknecht was a standout outside midfielder for the game who dominated her sideline with a drive to get the ball back when Prairie was on the defensive end.

One of the team’s strengths is the commitment and never quit attitude. All the players worked hard to support one another when the playing got tough.

River Valley used their speed to their advantage and Prairie just could not keep up once they started to get fatigued.

Senior goalkeeper Mallory Fulcher had an incredible game with 22 saves. One of those saves was a beautiful diving save on a penalty kick.

The team did a great job defending corner kicks in last night’s game and did not allow River Valley any opportunity to get the ball on net.

Pattison had some great headers to clear the ball out of the box.

The next game will be on April 30 at Richland Center.

“Thank you to all the fans who were able to make it out for the game,” said Coach Amber Hynnek.
