City to host public meeting on North Ohio Street project

The city of Prairie du Chien will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, May 5, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., to review the upcoming North Ohio Street project. It will take place in the council chambers at city hall. Representatives from the city and Vierbicher Associates, the city’s consultant on the project, will be in attendance.

The project involves the reconstruction of North Ohio Street from Blackhawk Avenue (State Highway 27) to Washington Street. It will consist of the following:

•Reconstruction of 1,600 lineal feet of 32-foot-wide street.

•Reconstruction of 3,200 lineal feet of concrete curb and gutter.

•Reconstruction of 3,000 lineal feet of 5-foot sidewalk.

•Reconstruction of 1,550 lineal feet of sanitary sewer, manholes and laterals (to the street right-of-way).

•Reconstruction of 1,650 lineal feet of water main, hydrants, valves and services (to the street right-of-way).

•Replacement and possible extension of storm sewer.

The project also includes the replacement of the Washington Street Lift Station including the force main and resurfacing Washington Street from Ohio Street west to Marquette Road. Work is scheduled to begin in May and be completed in September.
