The Cobblestone Inn and Suites of Marquette/Prairie du Chien was recently honored with the hotel chain’s best guest experience award for the year’s first quarter.

The Marquette location picked up the traveling award after garnering the highest average score from customer-submitted online surveys that ask about the hotel’s check-ins, cleanliness, breakfast, friendliness and overall experience.

General manager Stephen Woebbeking, who took over at the Marquette location in Dec. 2014, admitted the award was a surprise.

“Everyone here was involved,” he said of the staff of 10, including himself.

At one point or another, he added, they’ve all been personally referenced in a positive review. That also goes for the sometimes seldom-seen housekeepers, who he called “magicians.”

“I’m very proud of the staff for putting in an extra effort to stand out,” Woebbeking noted. “Everyone goes above and beyond to make a difference.

Woebbeking said the Marquette location’s performance can be attributed to several factors.

“It’s using the general manners we were taught as kids and having everyone on the same page,” he explained. “Smiling is also a huge thing. We’re all enjoying our jobs and we enjoy making everyone smile.”
