William W. “Bill’’ Williams, 85, of Patch Grove, formerly of Beetown. Passed into eternal life on Friday, April 10, at the Crossing Rivers Health Center. 

He was born Nov. 29, 1929. He was the son of Delbert and Dora (Woodruff) Williams. He married his first wife Nancy Huggett in 1948. Bill trained with the National Guard at Fort Snelling in Minnesota during the Korean War. Bill worked as a mechanic at the Ford dealership in West Salem for a number of years. They moved to Beloit, and Bill worked at Fairbanks Morse.

Bill started working for Wisconsin Power and Light (Alliant Energy )in 1954 at the Rock River Generating Station. He worked there until 1959. That same year he married his second wife Dorothy and moved to the Cassville area when the Nelson Dewey Generating Station was built. Bill helped put the new Nelson Dewey plant online. He continued to work for Wisconsin Power and Light until 1973 when he resigned and started his beekeeping business full time. Bill, Dorothy and family continued to run this business until 1983 when Bill went to work for UW Platteville at the heating plant. Bill worked 15 years for UW Platteville before retiring in 1998. He did part-time consulting work for UW Platteville after his retirement.

Bill and Dorothy were married for 53 loving years raising four children. Bill and Dorothy enjoyed going to antique engine shows. Bill enjoyed working on and restoring antique engines and woodworking. He was gifted in lathe and machining work. He was proficient in electrical and mechanical work, always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or someone in need. Bill and Dorothy always enjoyed raising goats and always had a dog by their side.

Bill is survived by his children, Cynthia (Richard) Taylor of Patch Grove, Clayton (Jackie) Williams of Beetown, Kevin (Donna) Williams of Dodgeville; daughter-in-law Donna Williams-Richter of Beetown; his first wife’s children, Jill Danielson of Adams, Andrea Mays (Danny) of Cherokee Village, Alaska, Lori Love-Bronn (Boyd) of Sparta; a sister Betty Shnurr of Phoenix, Ariz.; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy of 53 years; his son Timothy; two sisters Dorothy Williams and Garcie Robertson and a granddaughter Courtney Williams.

A memorial service will be Thursday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien with Pastor Mike Christensen officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

Friends may call at the church on Thursday, April 16, from 10 a.m. until time of service. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
