Donna Mae Adams, 82, of Garnavillo, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 6, at Guttenberg Care Center. 

She was born on May 24, 1932, the daughter of Elmer and Lucille Knapp. Donna was raised in the McGregor area and received her education from the McGregor Schools. On Jan. 23, 1950, Donna was united in marriage with Stanley John Adams in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Donna was a wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She spoke fondly of working in her father’s café “The Mallard” in McGregor during her teenage years. She also worked with her husband at “Stan’s Boat Landing” in Clayton for many years.

Donna was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Clayton where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and member of Mary and Martha Circle. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed selling Avon products. She was creative in making jewelry out of river shells, decorating drift wood pieces and painting. Donna also liked to spend time gardening, reading and doing cross stick embroidery. She enjoyed the company of friends and caregivers at the Guttenberg Care Center where she resided the past years. Her favorite ties were spent with friends fishing, time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Diane (Harry) Erikson of Elkader, Sandra (Henry F) Berns of Garnavillo, Gary (Trudie) Adams of Prairie du Chien and Randall (Rebecca) Adams of Garnavillo; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Bette
McNamara of Milton and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three nephews, Gregory Adams, Mark and James McNamara.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, 001 S. Industrial Park Rd. Garnavillo, IA where the family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 15, and one hour before service at church. Funeral service will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Clayton IA, at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16, Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite officiating. Interment will be at Clayton Cemetery.
