The La Crosse North Stars defeated the Prairie du Chien Grasshoppers 8-5 in the first game of a doubleheader in Coulee Region Legion baseball Monday in La Crosse. 

Prairie took a 2-1 lead following the first inning. 

Each team scored a run in the third as Prairie held the lead 3-2. 

The Hoppers scored twice in the top of the fourth but the Stars scored 4 runs in the bottom half to go ahead 6-5. 

The North Stars scored 2 runs in the sixth and held the Hoppers in the seventh to take the 8-5 win. 

Ronnie Hebel and Casey Hogenson pitched for the Hoppers. Hebel fanned 3 and walked 3 in the loss. 

Hogenson was 3x3 with a double and an RBI for the Hoppers. 

The North Stars and the Hoppers played to a 1-1 tie in six innings in the nightcap. The game was stopped due to rain and lightning. 

Each team scored 1 run, had 6 hits and committed 1 error. 

Tyler Nack whiffed 4 and walked 1 while pitching for Prairie du Chien. 

La Crosse is now 13-1-1 on the season. Prairie is 12-3-1.
