Seneca beats River Ridge
River Ridge had a tough outing on Tuesday as the Indians dominated in an 11-5 win in seven innings.
The Indians scored five runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Devin Wallin, a walk by Eric Konichek, an RBI single by Brady Fernette, and a two-run double by Nick Payne.
Wallin pushed the Indians ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Tommy Johnson singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to third on a single by Kilian Boland.
The Indians’ Jordan Johnson was perfect at the dish, going 4-4. He singled in the first, third, sixth, and seventh innings.
Gavin Greene got the win for the Indians despite allowing five runs over seven innings. He struck out 12, walked one and surrendered four hits.
Seth Williams took the loss for River Ridge. He allowed nine runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out five. Derek Posten also pitched for River Ridge.
Five runs in the top of the fourth gave the Indians a leg up after neither team scored for most of the game. The Indians scored on a two-run error, a single by Boland, a wild pitch, and an RBI double by Konichek.
River Ridge scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5.
Seneca then had their five-run rally in the sixth and added 1 more in the seventh for the victory.
Brock Kazda went 2x4 with a double and two RBI at the plate for River Ridge. Kirk Martin was 1x3. Sean Kilber was 1x3 and Ben Ertz was 1x3.
