MFL MarMac students of all ages plant school gardens

MFL MarMac High School students in Mr. Anderson's natural resources science class helped first graders plant and water the elementary garden last week. Anderson said students from his various classes grow the plants, plan the garden layout, then till and help plant. The garden includes everything from squash, tomatoes, beans and pumpkins to lettuce, herbs, kohlrabi and sunflowers. A garden club will tend the plants throughout the summer and the students will get to harvest and eat the fruits of their labor when they return to school in the fall. Students at the McGregor Center planted a garden this year as well, the first one at that site. For more photos, visit or the North Iowa Times’ Facebook page. (Photos by Audrey Posten)
