Memorial Day ceremonies take place in Bloomington, Glen Haven

The Bloomington-Glen Haven American Legion Memorial Day ceremonies will be observed Monday, May 26. All veterans, civic groups and children are encouraged to participate.

In Bloomington, at 11:30 a.m., the American Legion will lead the parade from the Bloomington firehouse through main street and into the Bloomington cemetery.

Memorial services for outlying cemeteries will start at 8 a.m. at Blake’s Prairie, 8:15 at Lumpkin, 8:30 at Scott, 8:45 at Goekel, 9:00 at the Glen Haven levee, 10:00 at Charlotte, 10:15 at Ramsey, 10:45 at Dodge and 11:00 at Providence. The River Ridge band will perform at the Glen Haven levee and at the Bloomington cemetery.

A picnic lunch for all veterans and their families will be held at the Bloomington Community Par following the ceremonies. If there is inclement weather, the picnic will be held in the Legion Hall. For more information, contact John Horkheimer at (608) 994-2872.
