Central boys place sixth at two meets

The Central boys’ track team participated in the April 29 Clayton Ridge Invitational. Central placed 6th in a field of 10 teams with the following results:

100 dash—Edosa Grau, 27th (13.90); 200 dash—Grau, 25th (28.49), Austin Ellis, 30th(31.17); 800 meters—Jacob Jansen, 6th (2:11.00), Elijah Hopp, 18th (2:34.00); 1600 meter run—Trevor Moser, 4th (5:21.88); 3200 meter run—ansen, 4th (12:03.07); 400 hurdles—Derek Ehrhardt, 6th (1:03.36); discus—Nathan Fitzgerald, 1st, (139’ 9”), T. Hilgerson, 18th (74’), Lane McGreal, 23rd, 62’ 5”); shot put—Fitzgerald, 1st (51’ 7”), McGreal, 27th (26’6”), Zack Hunt, 29th (24’ 1.5”); 4x100—Grau, Hunt, McGreal, Ellis, 12th (56.69; 4x200—Ben Backes, Aaron Hoth, Peyton Alexie, Fitzgerald, 5th (1:40.92); 4x400—Backes, Alexie,  Ehrhardt, Hunter Bries, 8th (3:54.34), Torre Curran, T. Nathan Fitzgerald broke the school record in the shot put again with his throw of 51’ 7”. 

May 2 found the boys at Starmont to participate in the Starmont Invitational. A total of 11 schools participated. Central finished 6th with the following results: 100 meters—Hoth, 12th (12.07, Ellis, 21st (14.05); 200 meters—Grau, 19th (27.51), Ellis, 21st (20.01); 400 meters—Hopp, 16th (1:08.17), Rochleau, 18th (1:09.75); 800 meters—Hopp, 13th (2:39.08); 1600 meters—Jansen, 2nd (4:57.23), S. Hilgerson, 12th (5:48.07); 3200 meters—Moser, 5th (11:40.54), Rochleau, 12th (13:10.96); 4x100 meters—Backes, Bries, Hoth, Ehrhardt, 5th (48.27); 4x200 meters—Backes, Bries, Hoth, Grau, 3rd (1:41.21); 4x400 meters—Backes, Alexie, Ehrhardt, Bries, 3rd (3:50.79); 4x800 meters—Curran, Bries, Hoth, Alexie, 6th (9:35.06); 1600 med—Hoth, Reinhart, T. Hilgerson, Moser, 6th (4:20.73); discus—Reinhart, 13th (96’ 6”, T. Hilgerson, 17th (81’ 3”); shot put—McGreal, 19th (27’ 8”), Hunt, 10th (23’ 10”); high jump—Ehrhardt, 10th (5’); and long jump—Bries, 11th (16’ 8 ½”), Grau, 12th (16’ 4 ¼”)

“We were fighting some injuries and illness this week, and I think that had an adverse affect on our performances,” Coach Wilwert said.  “We did improve in the 4x400 and 4x100 at Starmont, but generally, we have plateaued. Hopefully we have more improvements this week.”
