Blood drive here Tuesday, May 6
A blood drive will be held in Guttenberg on Tuesday, May 6, from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church - Fellowship Hall, 203 Pearl Street.
No appointments are necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.
A blood donation is a gift that doesn’t cost a thing but can provide hope to hospital patients in need. Every day, the Red Cross must collect about 15,000 pints of blood to meet the needs of patients at 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide, including 34 in the Badger-Hawkeye Region.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
