Bruce G. Brandt, age 59, of Des Moines, Iowa, died at his home on April 13.
He was born Feb. 16, 1955, in St. Paul, Minn., to Dorothy and Quentin Brandt. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1973, and later earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota. He was married to Beth Drees in 1983, and they built their life in Iowa, first in Clarion, for four years, and then in Des Moines.
Bruce was a longtime administrative assistant to the Iowa House Republican leadership. He also had an encyclopedic knowledge of all kinds of music, was an enthuasiatic cook, and a master of crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, his father, of Roseville, Minn., and his brother Steven (Lydia McDonnell), of Minneapolis, and sisters Barbara (Edward) Myers, of Prairie du Chien, and Christine Carlson, of Clarkston, Mich.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Minneapolis, Minn. Memorials are preferred to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport.
