Wauzeka-Steuben baseball team 8-0

Gavin Greene hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Gavin tossed a shutout to carry the Seneca Indians to an 8-0 victory over host Wauzeka-Steuben in seven innings.

The Indians’ Greene kept Wauzeka-Steuben off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up nine strikeouts.

The Indians blanked Wauzeka-Steuben thanks to 10 hits, including three extra base hits. The Indians scored four runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Greene, an RBI double by Nick Payne, and a ground out by Tommy Johnson.

Eric Konichek got on base four times in the game for the Indians. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the seventh inning.

Lucas Klema was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted four innings, walking six, striking out two, and allowing four runs.

The Indians increased their lead with three runs in the seventh. Konichek’s single got things going, plating Devin Wallin.
