No indication of foul play in fire

No indication of foul play at Slumberland Foul play has been ruled out as a cause of the fire at Slumberland Furniture in Prairie du Chien Sunday evening, April 13, according to Prairie du Chien Police Chief Chad Abram. However, officials have yet to release information about the official cause. The Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Division of the  Criminal Investigation Office of the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating the fire.

Merchants at Blackhawk Junction, where Slumberland was located, spent all of last week cleaning up their stores, with assistance from a fire catastrophe response service.

The cleanup continues this week. All businesses, with the exception of True Value, remain closed at this time.

The Courier Press will report openings in print and on its Facebook page as soon as information is received.
