Betty L. Olson, 73, of Marion, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Linda Livingston officiated. There was a visitation Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday at the chapel after 10 a.m.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Sheldon G. Olson; her son, Bradley (LeeAnn) Olson of Walford; a brother, Charles (Rita) Wagner of Dubuque; a sister, Marion (Dave) Hoover of Nashville, Tenn.; her granddaughters, Ashley Olson of Davenport and Tasha Olson of Walford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol (Gene) Laugeson.
Betty was born July 15, 1940, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Ross) Wagner. She married Sheldon G. Olson on March 21, 1964, in Elkader. Betty was retired from LeFebure Co. in Cedar Rapids and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion.
She enjoyed puzzles, rides in the country and gambling in Tama. She also loved making her Lefse and was famous for her meatballs and spaghetti. Her dog, Nemo, was priceless.
A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous and Linn County Humane Society.
