Two vacant seats on Prairie du Chien city council ballot
The Prairie du Chien Common Council will have two seats in the April 1 election with no names on the ballot. The current holders of the seats in the First and Third Aldermanic Districts (Ron Leys and Kyle Kozelka, respectively) have filed declarations of non-candidacy and are not seeking re-election next week, thus leaving the ballots empty for those positions.
This means that voters will be asked to write in their choice of a resident in that district.
According to City Administrator Aaron Kramer, in each of the two districts, “the eligible person who receives the highest number of write-in votes in the district will be declared the winner after the Board of Canvassers meets and confirms the election. If that person declines the position, the vacancy will go to the common council to be filled.”
