Mary Nesvik, 87, of Waterloo died at Friendship Village Retirement Center on Thursday, March 20.
Mary was born May 25, 1926 in Pleasant Ridge, Iowa. The daughter of Henry John Sr. and Elizabeth C. (Henry) Kleinow. She married Richard Nesvik on April 23, 1949 in McGregor and he died Feb. 24, 1994. Mary graduated from McGregor High School in 1945. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years as a clerk in facilities, retiring in 1980. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Women of the Church and was on the funeral committee. She continued to volunteer with Community Meals at Kimball Ave. Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Harriett Calkins of Davenport, Iowa, Geraldine Edwards of Northwood, Iowa; brothers Henry (Betty) Kleinow of Prairie du Chien; and Raymon (Ruth) Kleinow of Monticello, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Pauline Westphal; brothers-in-law George Calkins, Clifford Westphal and Marlyn Edwards; and sister-in-law Pat Kleinow.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 28, at Locke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Waterloo First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor.
