Shirley (Gassman) Plagman, 77, of Guttenberg, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
Visitation was before services at the funeral home.
Funeral services were Monday, March 10, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Penny Hansel.
Inurnment was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, rural Elkport.
Shirley was born on Aug. 3, 1936, in Dubuque to Fred and Dolly (Carrier) Gassman.
Shirley received her education locally at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She later met the love of her life, LaVerne Charles Plagman, and they were married on May 28, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport.
Survivors include four daughters, Lila (Huston) Irvin of Ottawa, Ill., Lavonne (Don) Evanson of Mt. Holley, N.C., Wendy (Kenton) Shanbeck of Manchester and Mary (Breyon) Gibson of Independence; five sons, Robert (Cindy) Plagman of Earlville, Charles (Geronda) of Independence, Mo., Peter (Jane) Plagman of Elkader, Andy (Stacey) Plagman of Elkader and LaVern (Becci) Plagman of Guttenberg; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Deloras Gordon, Annamae Hamann and Susie Saeugling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Alan; one grandson, Nathan; three brothers and three sisters.
